Antique Khmer Style Lakshmi / Devi Consort of Vishnu Torso - 31cm/12"
Measures - (Height) 31cm/12"
An antique Khmer style Lakshmi, devi or Goddess head in pre-Angkor Wat Banteay Srei style.
Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity (both material and spiritual), light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity and courage. The embodiment of beauty, grace and charm. Also called Mahalakshmi, she is said to bring good luck, and is believed to protect her devotees from all kinds of misery and money-related sorrows.
The conical chignon cover is decorated with tiers of lotus-leaf motifs. The ears are carved with the typical Khmer tripartite scalloping of the inner rim, with the lobes stretched from holding heavy earrings.
A single arched eyebrow, expressive, smiling lips, almond shaped eyes and an aquiline nose define her face.
The azure patina and details of this piece are particularly appealing.
The torso is mounted on a wood base.
This traditional in appearance piece is sure to add a unique touch to any room of your home or workplace.
One of the most recognizable of the Asian deities this representation of the consort of Vishnu is sure to enlighten your home with endlessly timeless style.
