Antique Indian Style South Asia Bronze Shiva Linga / Lingnum & Yoni - 15cm/6"
Measures (Height) 15cm/6"
A fine quality antique Indian-style bronze linga with yoni, this piece embodies one of the most profound and ancient symbols in Hindu spirituality. As a symbol of fertility and energy, the linga is an abstract, or aniconic, representation of the Hindu deity Shiva.
In traditional Indian thought, it is revered as a sign of Shiva’s boundless power—the concentrated energy and potential of God in formless essence.
Together, the linga and yoni are rich in spiritual and cosmic significance. They represent the divine masculine and feminine energies and the union of opposites—the creative forces of the universe and the sacred source from which all life arises. The linga, depicted here as a smooth cylindrical form, symbolises the divine masculine and Shiva in his unmanifest, transcendent aspect.
The Sanskrit word linga means “sign” or “symbol,” pointing to that which is beyond attributes and form.
The yoni, forming the base or receptacle that cradles the linga, symbolises the divine feminine—the cosmic womb from which all existence emerges. The term yoni, meaning “source” or “origin,” evokes the primordial ground of creation. Joined together, linga and yoni express cosmic balance, the interplay of Shiva and Shakti, and the understanding that the universe is sustained through the harmonious interdependence of these polar energies.
The linga here is further adorned with the sacred Om (Aum) symbol, the primordial sound and mantra of Hinduism. Om is regarded as the essence of the supreme Absolute, the vibration of universal consciousness, and the subtle hum of the cosmic order. At the base, the pedestal is formed as a lotus leaf motif. The lotus—rising pure and beautiful from muddy waters—signifies purity, compassion, and the bestowal of great joy upon all beings.
Traditional in appearance yet deeply symbolic, this bronze linga with yoni is an ideal piece to bring serenity, spiritual depth, and timeless style to a garden, patio, home altar, or sacred space.
