Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing 4-Arm Ganesha Statue - 12cm/5"
Measures (Height) 12cm/5"
An expressively cast antique Thai-style bronze standing four‑armed Ganesha, poised above a circular plinth. The elephant‑headed god wears a short dhoti with crossed cloth wrapped around his generously modelled waist, giving the figure a lively sense of movement and presence.
The bronze has developed a particularly attractive, varied patina, enhancing the depth of the modelling and lending the piece a rich, time‑softened character. Ganesha, the elephant‑headed son of Shiva, holds his trident and sweetmeats, together with a noose and his broken tusk in his four hands – classic attributes that speak to his roles as protector, guide and remover of obstacles.
In many traditions Ganesha is portrayed enjoying music and simple pleasures, not unlike Krishna, celebrating life through its beauty, abundance and joy. This sculpture captures that spirit of relaxed, benevolent delight while still conveying a sense of dignity and authority.
The direction of Ganesha’s trunk carries particular symbolic significance. Here it turns to his right, a form associated with moksha, or spiritual liberation. This makes the image especially suitable for those seeking or following a sincere spiritual path, or wishing to anchor a space in the intention of awakening and inner freedom.
In his earliest forms in India, Ganesha was closely linked with fertility and prosperity. Over time he came to be widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and, more broadly, as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles, patron of the arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom.
One of the most recognisable of all Asian deities, this finely cast Thai‑style Ganesha combines devotional symbolism with strong sculptural presence. Traditional in appearance yet full of character, it is sure to bring auspicious energy, warmth and timeless style to any home, office or sacred space.
