An antique Khmer style eight arm Lokeshvara statue in 10th century pre-Angkor Koh Ker style. Standing in samapada, on a double lotus petal pedestal, with his arms radiating around him and clad in a short sampot with fishtail pleat and jewelled sash, the face with wide features surmounted by a cylindrical headdress adorned with a meditating Amitabha Buddha.
In his eight hands he holds a lotus buds, sutra (holy text), mala beads, mandala, chakra, ball and Kalasha. His softly contoured face with indigenous characteristic has a serene downcast expression, with heavy-lidded eyes, arched eyebrows carved in relief meet in the middle above a well-shaped broad nose, and wide lips with an insipid smile are framed by a second incised line. and beauty lines upon his neck.
The four heads are covered in tightly braided woven hair, enhanced by a cylindrical-shaped 'Chignon' style topknot, secured by a ribbon.
