Antique Java Style Majapahit Standing Bronze Vishnu Statue - Protector & Preserver - 29cm/11"
Measurements - Height 28.5cm/11"
An antique Javanese style standing bronze Vishnu, rendered in the refined 13th‑century Majapahit tradition. Vishnu, the preserver and protector of the universe, is revered as the restorer of moral order, both all‑powerful and all‑pervasive in nature.
He stands in samabhanga, a poised and balanced stance, upon a raised round pedestal. His lowered right hand is held in the boon‑bestowing varada mudra, symbolising generosity, blessing, and the granting of wishes. In his left hand he holds the gada, or mace, an emblem of both mental and physical strength and his power to uphold righteousness (dharma).
Vishnu is richly adorned, wearing a finely detailed bejewelled dhoti and sacred upavita. His face is gently downcast, conveying calm authority and inner composure. Upon his head rests a decorative Javanese‑style tiara before the tall conical kirita‑makuta crown, signifying spiritual sovereignty and mastery over both positive and negative forces. An urna or third eye on his forehead, an aquiline nose, and elongated earlobes with large earrings complete the classical features of this noble deity.
The bronze surface carries a wonderful warm brown patina, adding depth, character, and a strong sense of age to the piece. Elegant, dignified, and full of symbolic meaning, this Vishnu sculpture makes a striking focal point in a home, office, or sacred space, inviting protection, balance, and spiritual harmony into its surroundings.

It is an amazing "museum quality" antique bronze!!! For a 19th century bronze antique, I believe the Newark, NJ Museum may express interest if I show them. However, they will never get it and I will have it in my collection for posterity. We will be doing much more business in the foreseeable future, count on it!!!

Thank you so very much! Well, I needed Buddha here -- and I certainly now have Buddha here in many ways and many forms -- with thanks to HDAsianArt. Each statue you've sent has worked out very well -- each in its own way -- each combined in settings with other art pieces -- each has blended well -- finishing off different areas of my home -- and all communicates well to tell a story of different aspects of my life. I intentionally chose your pieces -- to get away from the "norm" of beautiful gild Buddhas that everyone has -- your pieces are quite unique -- and a bit more "real" -- which serves my purpose well. So, thank you.
