Antique Khmer Style Bayon Seated Bronze Vishvakarman Statue - 41cm/16"
Measures (Height) 41cm/16"
An antique Khmer style seated Vishvakarman sculpture in the post-Angkor, 13th-century Bayon style.
Vishvakarman, often revered as the divine architect and craftsman of the gods, occupies a profound place in both Hindu and Khmer artistic traditions. In Hindu mythology, he is the celestial artisan — the master creator of the devas’ palaces, chariots, and divine weapons. In Khmer culture, Vishvakarman’s sacred role finds expression in the monumental temple complexes of Angkor Wat and Bayon, where divine craftsmanship and cosmology beautifully intertwine.
This finely cast bronze depicts Vishvakarman in a graceful half‑kneeling posture upon a square base, his right knee raised, the right hand uplifted, and the left hand resting gently on his knee. He wears a short, striated sampot, expertly folded and fastened with a distinctive butterfly‑style bow, characteristic of the post‑Angkor period.
The figure’s serene visage, with almond‑shaped eyes, full lips, and elongated earlobes, reflects the refined aesthetic of the Bayon style. His hair is arranged in a high chignon, secured by a tall flared headband tied elegantly at the back — a detail emblematic of the inclusive, ecumenical spirit of Khmer art during this era.
In his raised hand, Vishvakarman holds a lotus, symbolising purity, compassion, and the bliss that arises from divine creation. The warm patina and delicate surface details further enhance the sculpture’s tranquil presence.
This exquisite bronze Vishvakarman radiates spiritual calm and artistic mastery — a timeless piece that brings serenity and distinction to any home, office, or sacred space.

Beautiful. I received the Buddha yesterday in the midst of a TREMENDOUS thunderstorm, and it was perfectly dry and nice. (Not only your plastic covering worked, but DHL was nice enough to put the entire box int a huge plastic bag.) Many thanks.

We received the reclining Buddha and we love it! Thanks again!

It is an amazing "museum quality" antique bronze!!! For a 19th century bronze antique, I believe the Newark, NJ Museum may express interest if I show them. However, they will never get it and I will have it in my collection for posterity. We will be doing much more business in the foreseeable future, count on it!!!
