Antique Baphuon Style Sandstone Vishnu Head - Protector & Preserver - 20cm/8"
Measures - (Height) 20cm/8"
Antique Baphuon style mounted sandstone Vishnu Head. Vishnu is both world protector and preserver, restorer of moral order - he is all-powerful and all-pervasive by nature.
The Vishnu embodies authority with its iconic downcast gaze and large unexpressive face. The general silhouette is heavier. The carving is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face. Each detail is rendered perfectly. The features suggest the prana, or inner breath, that signifies superhuman power.
The Vishnu is loose mounted on a wood base (later).
The perfect traditional in appearance Vishnu to bring serenity and timeless style to you home, office or sacred space.

The use of Buddhist steles in pre-Angkor Cambodia exemplifies the region’s early embrace of Buddhism and the fusion of Indian and Southeast Asian influences that would later characterize Khmer art.
These steles were not just religious monuments but also records of history, politics, and cultural exchange.
