Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing 4-Arm Ganesha Statue - 26cm/10"
Measures (Height) 26cm/10"
An expressively cast antique Thai-style bronze standing four-armed Ganesha.
This finely modelled sculpture depicts Ganesha, the beloved elephant‑headed son of Shiva, standing in dignified poise, wearing a long dhoti with a crossed cloth wrapped around his rounded waist. The rich folds of the garment and the confident stance emphasise both his royal status and his approachable, benevolent nature.
In his four hands, Ganesha carries a trident, a noose, sweetmeats, and his broken tusk—each charged with symbolic meaning. The noose represents his power to catch and restrain negative, wayward thoughts and desires, while the broken tusk recalls sacrifice, perseverance, and the triumph of wisdom over pride. The trident, most famously associated with Shiva, links Ganesha directly to his divine father and signifies the destruction of evil and ignorance. In Ganesha’s grasp, it becomes a potent emblem of his ability to remove obstacles not only in the material world but also on spiritual and intellectual paths, combining destruction, protection, and transcendence. Its three prongs echo key triads in Hindu philosophy—creation, preservation and destruction; past, present and future—underlining Ganesha’s comprehensive role in maintaining cosmic balance.
The direction of his trunk also carries special significance. Here, it turns to Ganesha’s left, an auspicious orientation associated with worldly success and the life of the grihastha, or householder. This form is especially favoured by those seeking prosperity, stability, and good fortune in family and professional life.
In early Indian tradition, Ganesha was closely linked to fertility and abundance, but over time he came to be revered universally as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, patron of the arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom.
One of the most recognisable and widely loved figures in Asian religious art, this expressive Thai‑style bronze Ganesha combines strong visual presence with profound spiritual symbolism, making it an ideal piece to bring auspicious energy and timeless style to any home, office, or sacred space.
