Antique Indonesian Style Javanese Adoration Buddha - 16cm/6"
Measures (Height) 16cm/6"
An Indonesian (Java) Adoration Buddha in refined 13th‑century Majapahit style, radiating quiet devotion and inner calm. The Buddha stands in samabhanga, a poised and balanced stance, on a circular base, with the monastic robe elegantly draped over both shoulders and falling straight to the feet so the undercloth is completely covered.
His hands are joined before the chest in the Namaskara, or Adoration, mudra. Also known as Anjali mudra, this gesture of bringing the palms together at the heart centre expresses reverence, humility, and greeting, symbolising the recognition of the sacred within oneself and others. In Buddhist tradition it is both a gesture used by the Buddha to indicate respect and interconnectedness, and a gesture of homage offered by devotees to the Enlightened One.
The term “Namaskara” comes from the Sanskrit “namas,” meaning bowing or adoration, and over centuries it has become a universal spiritual salutation. In this sculpture, the joined hands emphasise the intimate bond between practitioner and Buddha, embodying gratitude, devotion, and acknowledgement of the path to awakening. The urna, or third eye, on his forehead symbolises the Buddha’s ability to see beyond ordinary suffering into deeper truth and wisdom.
This Adoration Buddha captures the timeless simplicity and power of the Namaskara mudra—a silent eloquence that transcends words, culture, and time. With its serene presence and harmonious proportions, the piece is ideal for a home, office, or sacred space, inviting an atmosphere of respect, unity, and contemplative stillness wherever it is placed.

Received the Mahamuni Buddha statue from 19th Century. The piece is remarkable. Very fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase authentic burmese buddha piece with burmese script on the bottom from my own country. Noted fast shipping to Colorado and above all, I am very impressed with the customer service. The sale rep contacted me personally via email to help me find the right statue I was looking for. Thank you!

The Buddha arrived earlier, very impressed. It goes very well with the rest of my collection. A unique piece. I'm sure I'll be back to purchase some more items (when I finish decorating...). Many thanks again.
