A lovely antique Khmer style pair of Temple Guardian or Lion figures, in the Angkor period, 10th century style of Banteay Srei. The guardians of the gate, are placed around the outside of a temple to serve both as greeters and defenders, they were specifically intended to protect the principle entrances of temples.
Each statue is cast in the round to show a strong body with an ornate coiffure with full lips and almond-shaped eyes with incised pupils beneath gently curving brows.
Their casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face. Each detail is rendered perfectly.
The distinctive patina is also particularly delightful. This traditional in appearance piece is sure to add serenity to your home, office or sacred space.

Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
All orders over 35 GBP will be shipped free of charge.
