    Measures (Height) 20cm/8"

An antique Khmer-style bronze Buddha statue, radiating serene composure and timeless grace. The Buddha’s face bears a peaceful, introspective countenance—the eyes gently downcast beneath a firm brow, reflecting meditative calm and inner stillness.

The figure’s body profile displays the ideal balance of strength and refinement, with broad shoulders and a slender waist enveloped in a gracefully draped Sanghati robe. The robe, worn diagonally across the left shoulder, reveals the right shoulder bare—a hallmark of Southeast Asian Buddhist imagery. The robe’s heavily pleated flap cascades elegantly to the navel, its deliberate folds demonstrating both sculptural mastery and fluidity of form.

The Buddha’s face, finely proportioned and oval in shape, features almond-shaped, downcast eyes beneath gently arched brows that converge above a prominent nose. The contoured lips, uplifted into a subtle, knowing smile, evoke enlightenment and benevolence. His hair, rendered in delicate shell-like curls, rises to a lotus-shaped ushnisha—a symbol of supreme spiritual wisdom and awakening. Long, elongated earlobes pay homage to his royal origins, recalling the heavy ornaments once worn during his life as Prince Siddhartha.

Seated in the half-lotus position, the Buddha raises his right hand before his chest in the Dharmachakra Mudra—the “gesture of turning the Wheel of Dharma.” In Sanskrit, Dharmachakrameans “Wheel of the Law,” representing the Buddha’s first sermon at Deer Park in Sarnath, where he set in motion the eternal teachings of enlightenment. In this gesture, the thumbs and index fingers of both hands lightly join to form a circle, symbolizing the union of wisdom and method, and the continuous cycle of spiritual truth.

The casting is of exceptional quality, evident in the finely modeled facial details and harmonious proportions of the form. A rich, aged patina enhances its surface, deepening its sense of antiquity and quiet reverence.

This exquisite sculpture embodies not only extraordinary craftsmanship but also the contemplative beauty of Khmer art. It is an ideal traditional piece to bring serenity, balance, and timeless spirituality to any home, office, or sacred space.
