Parvati Statue - Antique Thai Style Standing Bronze Parvati Statue - 57cm/23"
Measurements Height 57cm/23"
An antique Thai Style standing bronze Parvati sculpture.
Parvati, the wife of Shiva, is stood, samabhanga, on a double round lotus petal pedestal. The lotus flower represents purity, compassion and the giving of great joy to all.
As the wife of Shiva, Parvati is the voice of encouragement, reason, freedom, and strength, as well as of resistance, power, action and retributive justice.
She is dressed in tastefully decorated robes, and wears a number of pieces of ornate jewellery, including crown and earrings.
Her hair is piled in a tripartite chignon decorated with a cockade. Parvati is discretely adorned with a necklace, diamond shaped earrings and a single bangle on each wrist.
Parvati holds in her hands a Trident, conch shell and bowl of sweetmeats. Her lower right hand is held in a gesture of Protection.
She wears a richly bejewelled dhotis and upavitas. Her face has a serene downcast gaze. Parvati wears a decorative Thai style tiara, on her head, in front of her Kirita-Makuta or tall conical crown. This symbolises her control over Positive and Negative attitudes.
She has an aquiline nose and elongated earlobes with large earrings.
Parvati also has a third eye or urna. This is seen as the eye of inner wisdom and knowledge.
The sculpture has a wonderful azurite and malachite patina.
