  • Antique Koh Ker Style Khmer Stone Buddha - 43cm/17"

    Measures (Height) 43cm/17"

Antique Koh Ker style Cambodian Buddha. The power emanating from this compelling Buddha image characterises Koh Ker style.

As is typical with this style Buddha has a soft face and is adorned with scalloped elongated earrings. His jatamukuta (crown of hair) leads to a tall ushnisha, in the Koh Ker style, symbolizing his high level of spiritual development.

The face has eyebrows described by a continuous ridged line, a moustache, a beard, rimmed lips and wide open eyes. The inner rims of the ears are scalloped. The lobes are pierced to receive actual earrings, typical characteristics of tenth century Khmer sculpture. His tiara or mukuta is also richly decorated. A tradition that continued to develop in Cambodia from the 9th century to the post-Angkor period.

Provenance: Private London Collection. All items are guaranteed to be as described. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all purchases upon request. This traditional in appearance piece is sure to add a unique touch to any room of your home or workplace.

My Temple panels arrived yesterday. I wanted you to know I am very pleased. I love history and historic items and these fit right into my collection. Thank you. I shall watch your offerings with excitement

Geoffrey, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

The items are very nice. Better than I expected. My friends know that I collect Asian antiques. So, I bought these to put around the house for decoration so my 300 year old statues were kept safe :)

Alberto, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA

The lovely items are arrived in good condition. Thanks!
