Buddha Statues - Antique Khmer Style Bronze Standing Abhaya Protection Buddha Statues (Pair) - 88cm/35"
Measures -
Right Hand Buddha - (Height) 88cm / 35"
Left Hand Buddha - (Height) 73cm / 29"
A matched pair of antique Khmer style bronze Buddha statues. Each Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow and is stood in the Abhaya or protection mudra on a simple pedestal.
The peaceful countenance of Lord Buddha exudes harmony.
The Buddha's hands are held up in the abhaya mudra. The Abhaya mudra "gesture of fearlessness" is a mudra (gesture) that offers protection, reassurance and safety. Dispelling fear and according divine protection and bliss in many Indian religions.
The Buddha's hold up their left and right hand respectively. A Buddha with his left hand raised is particularly unusually, especially when part of a matched pair. The palms are facing outwards. This is one of the earliest mudras found depicted on a number of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain images.
The bodies profile is with broad shoulders and slender waist, covered by a Sanghati robe worn over both shoulders, and graced by a simple sash draped around and from the navel.
Each Buddha features an oval shaped face, with almond shaped downcast eyes. Curved eyebrows meet above a prominent nose, and contoured lips with an exalted expression.
The shell like curls of the hair form are surmounted by a lotus flower ushnisha, symbolising his high level of spiritual development. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings.
The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face. Each detail is rendered perfectly. The distinctive patina of the piece is also particularly delightful.
The sculpture provides the perfect traditional in appearance Buddha to bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office or sacred space.

Hevajra, with his wrathful appearance and intricate symbolism, serves as a profound guide on the path to spiritual realization within Vajrayana Buddhism.
His imagery is a potent reminder of the inseparable nature of wisdom and compassion, the transcendence of dualities, and the transformative power of spiritual practice.
