Antique Thai Style Enthroned Lopburi Protection Buddha Statue - 96cm/38"
Measures - (Height) 96cm/38"
An antique Lopburi style enthroned Protection Buddha from Thailand, depicting Lord Buddha has his enlightenment. The Buddha is enthroned on an ornate pedestal. The sculpture is comprised of 8 pieces which form an ornate and stunning Buddha.
The Lord Buddha is stood in the double Abhaya or protection mudra. The large ushnisha protuberance on top of his head, in the Lopburi style, symbolizes his high level of spiritual development.
The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. His ushnisha and robes are decorated in traditional Lopburi style.
Buddha also has a third eye or urna on his forehead symbolizing the ability of Buddha to see past our mundane universe of suffering.
Surrounding Buddha sits an aureole, with beaded edge, flaming rim and ornate lotus flower inspired finial. This circle of light symbolises his divinity.
The patina and details of this piece are particularly appealing.
The sculpture provides the perfect Buddha to bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office or sacred space.
