Antique Indonesian Style Seated Bronze Javanese Meditation Buddha Statue - 22cm/9"

An Indonesian (Java) enthroned Meditation Buddha, sitting panhandle, in 13th century Majapahit style.
This lovely Buddha is seated on a round double lotus leaf pedestal, itself on a round plinth, in the vajra position with his right leg is panhandle resting upon a lotus flower. The lotus flower represents purity, compassion and the giving of great joy to all.
His robe is draped to leave the right shoulder bare, and a portion of the garment that covers the left wrist falls behind the figure. The lower hem of the robe comes all the way down so that the undercloth or skirt is completely covered.
The Buddha is seated in the Dhyana mudrā or 'Meditation Position'. This hand gesture promotes the energy of meditation, deep contemplation and unity with higher energy.
The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. The peaceful countenance of Lord Buddha exudes harmony.
The Buddha is backed by a simple aureole. This symbolises his divinity.
He also has a third eye or urna on his forehead symbolizing the ability of Buddha to see past our mundane universe of suffering.
The large ushnisha protuberance on top of his head symbolises his high level of spiritual development.
The Buddha is a solid piece and has good weight for a piece of this size, weighing 3.3kg / 7.3lbs.

Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
All orders over 35 GBP will be shipped free of charge.
