Antique Baphuon Style Bronze Kneeling Devi Goddess Female Statue - 46cm/18"
Measures - (Height) 46cm/18"
An antique Baphuon style bronze kneeling female statue. This dynamic image of a woman with both knees on the ground, a pose often depicted in both relief and freestanding carving, is similar to one of the most striking bronze figures in the Phnom Penh, National Museum's collection.
Although she is clearly not a deity, the beauty of her rich jewelry indicates a court or temple retainer. Her upraised arms once bore an object that must have been thin and flat, possibly a screen or mirror.
