Ca. 19th century Burmese Kammavaca or manuscript chest. The chest is decorated in traditional Shwe Zawa style. Chests such as this would be used to store the 16 page Kammavaca religious text recited by monks at ceremonies. The box is decorated with traditional Burmese astrological motifs such as the rabbit, crab, rat and vase of plenty.
The chest is decorated in traditional black and gold Shwe Zawa style.
