At the end of the 18th century, during the Konbaung dynasty, the Mandalay style of the Buddha image emerged, a style that remains popular to this day. This style departed from the Innwa style with the Buddha's face more natural, fleshy, with naturally-slanted eyebrows, slightly slanted eyes, thicker lips, and a round hair bun at the top.

As in this example the Mandalay-style Buddhas typically wears flowing, draped robes.

This original 19th century piece is fashioned from Teak (Wood) and shows only minor (and expected) 'wear and tear' due to its age.

Material: Wood Dimensions (HxWxD): 63cm x 24cm x 11cm
