This statue is in the style made popular in the 12th century by the Khmer (now Cambodia) as Angkor Wat. Buddha images from this period are both elegant and decorative with careful decoration around the head and hair band.

The sculpture is hand crafted as such unique, cast using the lost wax method by artists in central Thailand. The skills used by these artists are passed on by each generation to ensure traditional skills and maintained and developed. This method of casting allows for greater detail and the artistry of its creator to be better reflected than other casting methods.
